Congratulations Hannah & Matt, and thank you for having me as your Aurora Inn wedding photographer! My day began early in Ithaca with Hannah and her medley of bridesmaids who were congregated in the same hotel room amid various stages of getting ready. The day was bright and warm with a beautiful view overlooking Cayuga Lake and not a single cloud in the sky. Hannah had a fairly large wedding entourage so we didn’t shuttle from the hotel until around 2:00 with the ceremony at Bethany Campus Church at Cornell University beginning at 3:30. This was my first time documenting a wedding at Bethany so I was a bit awestruck upon my entrance. This dramatic Romanesque style church with its decadent decor of carved dark wood and golden mosaics was a visual marvel. The lighting I knew would be challenging but would also produce some rather bold and intense imagery. After the ceremony/mass Hannah & Matt made their way outside where friends and family members christened the couple with bubbles and applause. After a few quick family photos back inside the church we headed over to the Aurora Inn in Aurora NY for the newlywed’s cocktail hour and reception. I was able to steal away with Hannah & Matt upon their arrival for some portraits along the waterfront and then we resumed with the rest of the guests for cocktial hour which was taking place outside under tents at the back of the Inn where there was a lovely view of the sprawling hillside and the setting sun off of Cayuga lake. Following dinner service toasts and cake cutting the party moved to the dance floor where family friends and guests spent the remainder of the evening celebrating this beautiful couple and their Fourth of July wedding.
